A Virginia native, Keola Jones has been dancing since the age of four, beginning her training at Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center. She then furthered her training by dancing nationally with Richmond’s City Dance Theatre until 2018. Over the course of her career, Keola has accumulated many awards and titles including the Pierians Foundation's Emerging Artists Award in 2016; Henrico High School: Center for the Art’s Brad Boynton Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2018; and Virginia Commonwealth University’s African American Studies’ Black History in the Making Award in 2020. She is a graduate of the Dance and Choreography Department at VCU where she has been cast in several student, faculty, and guest work. She has worked with VCU faculty MK Abadoo, Sinclair Emoghene, Trebien Pollard, Scott Putman, Dr. E. Gaynell Sherrod and Eric Rivera, along with residency artists Christopher K. Morgan & Artists and Urban Bush Women. She has worked with the Dance Union and has been a proud member of the student organization B.A.S.E. (Black Art Student Empowerment) since 2019 and treasurer in 2022. She is currently the Open Space Coordinator with The RedProject NYC under the direction of Johnnie Cruise Mercer, an adjunct professor of dance at The College of William and Mary, and an apprentice with New York based company, Urban Bush Women.
